Finding a Walk Behind Lawn Mower For Your Small to Medium Yard

!: Finding a Walk Behind Lawn Mower For Your Small to Medium Yard

Don't just run out and buy a lawn mower without reading this, first. You need to be careful to consider all the factors that go into taking care of your yard, and all the important tips to take care of your equipment. For example, did you know that you shouldn't leave gasoline in a machine if you don't plan on using it for more than 30 days? The reason for this is because it isn't good for the engine. So if you don't plan on using the mowing equipment very often, only put a small amount of gas in it.

As for the type of machine you should get, that is easier to decide. Pick a ride on mower if the area you're taking care of is large (or if you're doing commercial work) and pick a walk behind push mower if you're going to just be managing your own property (and it happens to be small). For the riding machines, you can get them from John Deere or Murray. They are extremely easy to drive now because of their zero turn technology. They usually come with mulching decks (which are highly recommended if you don't want to spend a lot of money on fertilizer). You'll probably end up getting replacement blades after many hours of use, but that is a small price to pay considering how long the actual tractor can last. And don't forget to consider a landscape rake, which will help you grab pieces of degree and drag them off your property.

For the standard walking mowers, get a cordless electric model. This will save you a good amount of money from having to purchase gas. The only drawback is the slight decrease in power, but it's really not that noticeable. All the reputable companies (Reel, Simplicity, Toro, Snapper, Troy Built, Husqvarna and Black & Decker) manufacture these. Be sure to get a bagger, as this is one of the accessories that will prevent all the cut grass from being put back on the new lawn and smothering it.

You realize that after mowing, you still have some tight squeezes you can reach. These require an edger or trimmer of some sort. Get the handheld ones from Worx or Mantis, as they are well made. You'll be able to reach any spot. And then you can wash it all off with your garden hose.
